Photos» "I Love You, Phillip Morris," publicity » Best car chases of the '70s » Giant squid invade California » Police bust smugglers with 700 pounds of pot in a septic tank » Bill Watterson interview » Netflix adds hundreds of indie titles to "Watch Instantly" feature » Le Tigre and Christina Aguilera team up • Ridelust.com has an amazing list of the 10 best car chases of the 1970s. • GRAB YOUR FISHING HARPOONS! GRAB YOUR DAUGHTERS AND SISTERS AND HEAD FOR THE INLAND! GIANT SQUID ARE ATTACKING! OK, maybe they're not attacking. But California shores are being inundated with large squid weighing up to 60 pounds. Local fisherman have since flocked to the Newport Beach shores to try to catch the beasts. • Police busted a drug smuggler who was trying to carry more than 700 pounds of pot in a septic tank! That's some crazy shit right there. • Bill Watterson, creator of our favorite comic, "Calvin & Hobbes," has given his first interview in years. Here's what Watterson had to say about quitting the popular strip: It's always better to leave the party early. If I had rolled along with the strip's popularity and repeated myself for another five, 10 or 20 years, the people now "grieving" for "Calvin and Hobbes" would be wishing me dead and cursing newspapers for running tedious, ancient strips like mine instead of acquiring fresher, livelier talent. And I'd be agreeing with them. I think some of the reason "Calvin and Hobbes" still finds an audience today is because I chose not to run the wheels off it. I've never regretted stopping when I did. • Netflix has added hundreds of new indie titles to its "Watch Instantly" feature. So that's pretty cool. • In perhaps the oddest pairing of musical artists, Christina Aguilera and Le Tigre are working together on the pop starlet's new album. |
