Carnegie Hall Presents "High Flying Birds: A Billy Edd Wheeler Tribute" Friday, Nov. 9

Carnegie Hall and the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame present "High Flying Birds: A Billy Edd Wheeler Tribute" on Friday, November 9, at 7:30 p.m. in Carnegie Hall's Hamilton Auditorium. Wheeler will be at the event to tell stories, reflect on his career, and talk about his new autobiography, "Hotter Than a Pepper Sprout." Larry Groce, Julie Adams, Richard Hefner, and The Carpenter Ants will perform in a tribute to Wheeler.

A poet, a playwright, and a painter, Billy Edd Wheeler is one of West Virginia's true Renaissance Men. His skill as a songwriter has earned international acclaim. Elvis Presley, the Kingston Trio, Judy Collins, Neil Young, Kenny Rogers, The Jefferson Airplane, and Johnny and June Carter Cash have all scored hits with Billy Edd Wheeler songs. "Jackson" and "Coward of the County" have become country-folk standards, a testament to Wheeler's ability to tell a compelling story set to an equally compelling tune.
